Wasp Attack Hospitalizes Engineering Students in Sri Lanka

A group of engineering students from the University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka were hospitalized on November 14, after being attacked by a swarm of wasps, police said.

The incident occurred at the Plantation Training Center in the Morar Estate, Bogawantalawa, where the students had arrived to attend a practical workshop. According to police, the wasps became aggressive after their nest in a nearby tree was accidentally disturbed.

Six students suffered injuries and were admitted to the Bogawantalawa Regional Hospital for treatment. Several students from multiple universities are currently staying in hostels at the training center to participate in the workshop.

Local police in Bogawantalawa have launched further investigations into the incident.
