The incident occurred at the Plantation Training Center in the Morar Estate, Bogawantalawa, where the students had arrived to attend a practical workshop. According to police, the wasps became aggressive after their nest in a nearby tree was accidentally disturbed.
Six students suffered injuries and were admitted to the Bogawantalawa Regional Hospital for treatment. Several students from multiple universities are currently staying in hostels at the training center to participate in the workshop.
