The sun is expected to be directly over Sri Lanka starting from August 29 till September 7. Sun on it’s apparent march from the Northern hemisphere to the Southern hemisphere, will be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during the period of August 29 to September 7, 2020.
The latitudes at which the Sun will be directly overhead, the closest towns corresponding to the given latitudes and the times at which the Sun will appear overhead are as follows.
Several areas including Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, would also experience hot weather and residents were warned to take extra precautions when they are out in the open in these areas.

The health officials warned that those living in these areas should avoid venturing outside too much in the next few days, particularly in the morning hours since exposure to such excessive hot weather could cause heat strokes, cramps and heat exhaustion.
People should drink more water and keep drinking water in small quantities all times to beat the current hot / heatwave weather. People should also avoid walking in the hot sun, according to Health officials.
People should avoid exercising in the hot sun, always wear caps, hats etc and wear the right attire to protect themselves from the hot sun. The body temperature can go up due to hot weather.
School children should not be allowed to indulge in outdoor activities which cause excessive sweating under the hot sun between 11 am and 3 pm these days.
