Students from the 2022/23 batch of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka have called on authorities to urgently resolve the severe shortage of hostel facilities on campus.
They report facing extreme difficulties due to the lack of accommodation, with some students forced to spend the night in a campus cafeteria. Despite these hardships, the students say they remain committed to continuing their studies and plan to attend scheduled lectures today.
According to the students, no meaningful support or long-term solution has yet been offered by university or government authorities. They stress that the ongoing situation poses a serious obstacle to their academic progress and urge prompt intervention to ensure suitable living conditions for all affected students.
