Sri Lanka has recorded 103,491 tourist arrivals in the first 20 days of October, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Data shows that India remains the top source market, contributing 29,460 visitors—or 28.5% of total arrivals so far this month. The United Kingdom followed with 8,529 visitors, while China (8,063), Germany (6,305), and Russia (5,469) also ranked among the leading countries of origin.
With the latest figures, total tourist arrivals in 2025 have reached 1,828,985, reflecting strong post-pandemic growth in the island nation’s travel sector. Of these, 404,752 visitors came from India, followed by 170,422 from the UK, 127,613 from Russia, 113,293 from Germany, and 109,653 from China, the SLTDA reported.
In September 2025, Sri Lanka welcomed 158,971 foreign visitors, representing a 30.2% increase compared to the same month in 2024—signaling continued momentum in the country’s tourism recovery and growing appeal as a South Asian destination.
