Five newly appointed envoys formally presented their credentials to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday (13), marking the beginning of their diplomatic assignments in the country.
The diplomats who presented credentials were:
- Isabelle Marie Catherine Martin – High Commissioner of Canada (Colombo-based)
- Wiebe Jakob De Boer – Ambassador of the Netherlands (Colombo-based)
- Matthew John Duckworth – High Commissioner of Australia (Colombo-based)
- Abdenor Khelifi – Ambassador of Algeria (based in New Delhi)
- Benedikt Höskuldsson – Ambassador of Iceland (based in New Delhi)
President Dissanayake welcomed the new envoys and expressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with each of their countries, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake were also present at the ceremony.
