Sri Lanka to Sign UN Convention Against Cybercrimes

The Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka has approved a proposal to sign the United Nations Convention against Cybercrimes (UNCC).

Adopted at the 55th session of the UN General Assembly in December 2024, the convention aims to strengthen global cooperation in combating and preventing cybercrimes.

By joining the convention, Sri Lanka seeks to enhance its capacity to prevent and investigate cybercrimes, recover illicit assets, protect witnesses and victims, and access international technological support and capacity-building initiatives.

The joint proposal was presented by the President in his capacity as Minister of Digital Economy, along with the Ministers of Justice, National Integration, and Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.
