Sri Lanka to Host “Sri Lankan Day” Cultural Festival in December 2025

The Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved plans to hold a national celebration titled “Sri Lankan Day” from December 12–14, 2025, at Colombo Town Hall Grounds, Vihara Maha Devi Park, and surrounding areas.

The three-day festival will feature cultural performances, food fairs, and exhibitions showcasing the traditions of all ethnic and religious communities across the country. The initiative aims to promote national reconciliation and mutual understanding among Sri Lanka’s diverse population, according to Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Proposed in the 2025 Budget Speech by the President in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, the program seeks to foster unity under the theme of “One Sri Lanka.”

The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs will oversee the event’s implementation, which will involve public and private sector participation across four thematic zones.

Each zone will represent different aspects of Sri Lanka’s cultural and culinary heritage, regional industries, and innovative products, reflecting the island’s multicultural identity and creative diversity.
