Sri Lanka received USD 712 million in workers’ remittances in October 2025, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). Total remittances from Sri Lankans employed overseas reached USD 6.52 billion between January and October 2025, representing a 20.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
Tourism performance has also shown continued recovery. CBSL figures indicate that tourism earnings for the first nine months of 2025 surpassed USD 2 billion, with total revenue for January to September recorded at USD 2.47 billion. This marks a 5.3% rise from the USD 2.34 billion earned in the corresponding period of 2024.
The Central Bank noted that sustained growth in both remittances and tourism remains a key contributor to the country’s foreign exchange inflows and overall economic stability.
