Sri Lanka Reschedules 2025 A/L Exams to January 2026 Following Severe Weather Disruptions

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education has announced that the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) examinations—previously postponed due to adverse weather and widespread flooding—will now take place from January 12 to January 20, 2026. The Department of Examinations has released an updated timetable reflecting the revised schedule.

According to the announcement, students affected by the disaster who cannot sit for the exam at their assigned centres must promptly inform their school principal. Principals are required to notify both the Zonal Director of Education and the Exams Commissioner (School Examinations and Results) regarding such cases.

Private candidates impacted by the disaster and unable to attend their designated examination centres should contact the Examinations Department using the following channels:

Hotline: 1911

Telephone: 0112784537 / 0112786616 / 0112784208

Fax: 0112784422

Email: gcealexam@gmail.com

This measure aims to ensure all affected candidates receive the necessary support to participate in the national examination.
