Sri Lanka Pre schools to be brought under a Ministry. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says that the pre-school / Nursery / Montessori system will be brought under the purview of a Ministry so that issues affecting it could be resolved.
During the President’s recent visits to several areas problems faced by pre-school teachers were brought to his attention. Nursery teachers discussed their difficulties with the President.
In response, the President said measures are afoot to pay a monthly allowance to pre-school teachers, the President’s Media Division said.
President Rajapaksa emphasizes the significance of planning early childhood development, which is a decisive stage in the lives of children in accordance with the accepted standards.
Grade 1 and 2 classes and all pre-schools in the country that were closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic will re-open on August 10th, the Education Ministry announced.
The Education Ministry said the Cabinet of Ministers today discussed at length the issue of reopening educational institutions and pre-schools as the COVID-19 situation is under control.
Accordingly, in accordance with the guidance of the Director General of Health Services, it has been decided to open schools for first and second grade students and pre-schools island-wide on Monday 10th August.
The President has instructed the Ministry of Education, Education ministries of Provincial Councils of and all local authorities to closely monitor the disinfection process of all schools in the island.
Accordingly, all premises must be disinfected before the re-opening, the Ministry said.
