All schools across the island for all grades will reopen on Monday except for the schools in the Western Province, Education Minister Prof. G.L Pieris said. Grade 5, Grade 11 and A/L class will be reopened in Western Province from March 15.
He added that schools in the western province will be reopened only after the health recommendations are received.
The Minister further said that health recommendations pertaining to the Western Province will be submitted by the health officials within two days. Accordingly the schools in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara will be reopened.
Minister Pieris said that the decision on reopening schools in the western Province will be determined based on the approval of the Director General of Health Services.
