Update – Everything is ready for 2020 Grade Five Scholarship Exam and it will be held on October 11 Sunday as scheduled with strict Coronavirus safety measures. Sri Lanka Education Ministry has published an on-line form on its website to collect details of candidates attempting the Grade Five scholarship exam. The Education Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said the form in this regard has already been added to the web site of the Ministry. He further stated that information will be updated daily.

Ministry of Education has made arrangements to obtain relevant information including details of the health status of all students who are scheduled to sit for the Grade Five Scholarship Examination as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic. Students or parents can access this information via the link https://info.moe.gov.lk

Relevant time table released. It is expected to release the 2020 Grade Five Scholarship Exam results on December. Cut Off Marks for Popular School will be delayed and will release after December. Last year, Pass Marks Sinhala Medium 164, Tamil medium 156 (Colombo district).

There are some news websites & social media sites have posted wrong and fake time tables.

Government is considering to postpone the Grade Five Scholarship Exam again. Education minister Dullas Alahapperuma has advised officials to explore whether there is a need to postpone the examination. Minister told during a meeting that a group of students had requested him to postpone the exam, which is scheduled on September 13. Students and parents have requested to postpone exam at least by several weeks.

Earlier government said 2020 Grade 5 scholarship examination will be held on September 13 Sunday. Sri Lanka’s Education Minister says that 2020 Grade 5 Scholarship Exam (Paha Shreniya Shishyathwa Wibagaya) will be held on September 13. Exam was scheduled held on August but due to coronavirus outbreak exam postponed to September.

Earlier Examinations commissioner said that a reasonable and fair decision will be made considering Grade 5 Scholarship Exam, as schools remained closed due to coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

Examinations Department will depend on the advice of the Health Ministry and the Task Forces, in their decision to hold exams. A series of meeting will be held coming days to take the decision.

Earlier Examinations commissioner Mr Poojitha also said the department will seek advice from health authorities with regard to spacing and desk and chair arrangements in the exam halls.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma stated that the children who are to face examinations in the future, will not be subjected to any disadvantage in any way due to the Covid19 epidemic.
