Gold Prices in Sri Lanka Plunge Sharply Amid Global Market Decline

Gold prices in Sri Lanka have seen a significant drop, reflecting the broader downturn in the global market. For the first time in several weeks, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign has fallen below Rs. 300,000, now trading at around Rs. 298,000 in Colombo’s Pettah gold market. This represents a steep decline of Rs. 81,200 from the price of Rs. 379,200 recorded on October 17. Similarly, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign has fallen from Rs. 410,000 to Rs. 322,000, marking one of the sharpest corrections in recent months.
