Update Article here via LankaXpress. The Department of Examinations today announced that the results of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination-2020 have been released online.

The results can be viewed via https://www.doenets.lk/examresults, the official website of the Examinations Department.

A student from Sangamitta College, Galle recorded 200 marks at the grade 5 scholarship exam. Siyathi Sandundi Karunathilaka, a student from Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya has recorded 200 out of 200 marks at the grade 5 scholarship exam conducted in October. She would be possibly the island best student this time at the scholarship exam having recorded a rare feat after 13 years.

At least four students have recorded 200/200 marks at the grade 5 scholarship exam in 2020. This is the first time in Sri Lankan history that at least four students scored the total marks at grade five scholarship exam.

Everything is ready for 2020 Grade Five Scholarship Exam and it will be held on October 11 Sunday as scheduled with strict Coronavirus safety measures. Sri Lanka Education Ministry has published an on-line form on its website to collect details of candidates attempting the Grade Five scholarship exam. The Education Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said the form in this regard has already been added to the web site of the Ministry. He further stated that information will be updated daily.

Ministry of Education has made arrangements to obtain relevant information including details of the health status of all students who are scheduled to sit for the Grade Five Scholarship Examination as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic. Admission cards will be used as curfew passes during the Grade 5 scholarship examinations, Police Spokesman says.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Education states that all students should include their information in the information sheet submitted on the website of the Ministry of Education before conducting the relevant examinations.

Students who are unable to provide the information for the above examinations online should submit the information at the center where they are appearing for the examination.

“The relevant form (Sinhala/Tamil/English) in the language will be submitted to the Head of the Examination Department by the Department of Examinations in the Zonal/Provincial Referral to Directors of Education.

Students who have not submitted the information online should complete and submit this form (in one medium) and all Provincial/Zonal Directors of Education and Examination Center Officers have been informed to follow the instructions of the health authorities in the relevant area regarding the health issues reported there,” the Education Ministry in a statement said.

The Ministry of Education will protect the confidentiality of the information completed by the candidates.

It is mandatory for all students appearing for the examination to enter their details and this information should be completed by the parents of the Grade 5 students.

If there is any problem with the candidate’s health or his or her family’s health after entering the information in the first instance, the information should be re-submitted in those instances.

Normally, Grade Five Scholarship Exam is scheduled on August month every year, but the exam was postponed this year due to Coronavirus outbreak. Earlier officials said 2020 Grade Five Scholarship Exam will be held from September 13. But students and parents have requested to postpone it by several weeks. Finally Ministry after having discussions with students, principals and teachers about this matter, decided to held exam is on October 11. In October again there was increase in COVID19 patents in Sri Lanka with Minuwangoda cluster. Officials after having discussion decided to hold exam as scheduled with strict health measures. 2020 Grade Five Scholarship Exam will be held on October 11 Sunday.

Relevant time table released. It is expected to release the 2020 Grade Five Scholarship Exam results on December. Cut Off Marks for Popular School will be delayed and will release after December. Last year, Pass Marks Sinhala Medium 164, Tamil medium 156 (Colombo district).

Important Guidelines for Students & Parents

Examination is scheduled to start at 9.30 a.m. Commissioner General of Examinations says therefore it is important all candidates being present at the examination centers at least by 9.00 a.m.

Pen (Blue / Black ) or pencil can be used to answer the question papers. Furthermore it is important to write the index number correctly at the space given on pages of every question paper.

The Exams’ Chief also emphasizes that every candidate should properly read the instructions given in the question paper before answering it.

Meanwhile, parents will not be allowed to enter the examination centers. They will not be permitted to enter the premises even during the interval. The Commissioner General of Examinations informs the parents to only give a short eat and a water bottle to their children.
