Sri Lanka Education Ministry in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation SLRC commence two education Tv channels on Channel Eye and Nethra Television.

Accordingly, students can utilize these two television channels, which telecast educational programmes both in Sinhala and Tamil mediums.

“Having concerned the present pandemic situation the Government took step to start these two education channels so as to assist students for their studies” the Education Minister said. The next school term is currently slated to begin on May 11.

The Minster pointed out that parents are responsible to guide students to continue their studies even during this pandemic. No room will be left for hampering educational activities of students and therefore the two channels will be a guiding light for students to continue their studies during this time.

The two channels will telecast only educational programmes suitable from primary level to advanced levels A/L.

Cabinet approval has also been granted to convert state-run television channels ‘Channel Eye’ and ‘Nethra TV’ to educational TV channels for children. The two channels come under the state-owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

The two channels will telecast only educational programmes suitable from primary level grade five scholarship to advanced levels A/L.
