Sri Lanka Education Ministry Warns of Fake WhatsApp Group Misusing Name of New Education Reforms

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has issued a warning about a fake WhatsApp group circulating under the title “Education Council to be formed through the New Education Reforms.”

According to the Ministry’s Media Division, the group claims to unite teachers from each education zone but is not connected to or authorized by the Ministry. The statement emphasized that the Ministry has no involvement in the creation or operation of this group and will not take responsibility for any activities carried out through it.

The Ministry further cautioned the public and education sector personnel not to be misled by such unofficial groups, which are believed to be operated with the intention of discrediting the New Education Reforms Program and the government.

Officials urged teachers and the public to remain vigilant and verify information only through official Ministry communication channels.
