The annual information update for people registered under the ‘Aswesuma’ welfare benefit scheme has begun.
The Welfare Benefits Board says that all families and individuals who first registered in 2023 must update their details — even if they are not currently receiving benefits.
However, those who submitted grievances in 2024 do not need to update their information, as their details are already being checked.
The Board also reminded the public that every family member must have a National Identity Card (NIC) and an active mobile number when completing the re-certification.
Beneficiaries can update their details online at eservices.wbb.gov.lk using a computer or smartphone. To log in, they will need the HH number and NIC number shown on their QR sheet.
People can also complete the update at the Welfare Benefits Unit of their Divisional Secretariat, or by submitting the annual update form through their Grama Niladhari.
The Board warned that the update is mandatory for everyone included in the first phase of the ‘Aswesuma’ program. Those who do not complete it will be considered ineligible for benefits next year.
