Sri Lanka Examination Department’s permission has granted to use Calculators in Accounting, Engineering Technology, Bio Systems Technology and Science for Technology subjects at the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination (A/L Exam) this year 2020 says Commissioner General of Examinations
Those sitting for this examination will be allowed to use a non-programmable calculator. The use of calculators will be allowed for this years’ Advanced Level (A/L) examination as well. Students who are NOT interested to use calculators, can sit exam without a calculator.
“Calculators will be allowed for A/L accountancy, bio system technology, engineering technology and science for technology examination papers ” Mr. Pujitha told.
The calculators will be thoroughly checked by invigilators before students enter the examination halls he said. However, Advanced Calculators, electronic calculators, calculators in mobile phones will be strictly prohibited.
Earlier examination department’s attention has been drawn on granting permission at the A/L exam this time for using Calculators for several subjects. Accordingly students have the opportunity to use the Calculator for A/L 4 subjects Accounting, Biological system technology, Engineering Technology, and Technology.
Similarly the examination department said that from 2020 year opportunity would be given for using the normal calculator at the competitive examination in the recruitment for the Sri Lanka Accountancy Service.
A/L Students can now count on calculators to be allowed at exams.
Invigilators appointed by the Examinations Department had been given training recently on inspecting calculators brought into examination centres, to make sure they are non-programmable ones, Examinations Chief Sanath Pujitha said.
For the first time in the history of state examinations, the use of a calculator allowed February 16 at the Sri Lanka Accountants’ Service’s competition exam.
The Open / Limited Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Accountants’ Service – 2017 / 2018 (2020), conducted by the Examinations Department held on February 16, 22 and 23.
